Rental Assistance Program

Kehilla’s Rental Assistance Program (RAP) provides up to $400 a month to help people pay their rent and live more affordably in the Jewish Community.

The RAP is currently helping over 300 households who pay more than 35% of their gross incomes on rent.

The cost of living in Toronto’s Jewish community is high. Many families and individuals are forced to pay between 50 and 70 percent of their limited incomes on housing, often at the expense of other basic essentials such as food. The current poverty rate in the Jewish community is 14 percent, which translates to over 25,000 Jewish people living in poverty - including children, seniors, and Holocaust survivors. We cannot reach everyone, but our goal is to help one household at a time.

You may qualify for Kehilla’s Rental Assistance Program if you are paying more than 35% of your income on rent and if you fit the following criteria:

  • You are Jewish

  • You live in the Jewish Community in the Greater Toronto Area

  • If you live in a 1-bedroom apartment, pay up to a maximum of $1,791.00 in rent and your yearly combined household income $61,406 or less

  • If you live in a 2-bedroom apartment, pay up to a maximum of $2,189.00 in rent and your yearly combined household income is $75,017 or less

  • If you live in a 3-bedroom apartment, pay up to a maximum of $2,489.00 in rent and your yearly combined household income is $85,337.00 or less
