Contract Start and End Date: June 30, 2025, to August 22, 2025
Contract Duration: 8 weeks, 35 hrs/week.
Position Location: 525 Lawrence Avenue West and hybrid.
Compensation: $17.20/hr
Reporting: This position will report to the Executive Director, Agency Support Coordinator, and Project Manager
Position Description:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support for special projects and activities. They will work with Kehilla staff providing day-to-day assistance with tasks related to the Rental Assistance Programs (RAP), new housing developments, and will assist in the development and implementation of a lunch and learn series aimed at educating older adults.
The Administrative Assistant will learn how to appropriately communicate with clients, respond to telephone and email inquiries, and request information and documentation for the RAP program. In addition the student will develop outreach skills and support potential participants with their registration for the caregiver seminars.
The Administrative Assistant will work closely with staff, participating in team meetings, and collaborating on special programs and projects. They will work with a senior advisory committee organizing the caregiver seminar events, confirming speakers, setting up meeting rooms, arranging food services, and organizing registration.
The Administrative Assistant will have the opportunity to enhance their social and digital media skills to effectively communicate or respond to others, by assisting in internal and external communication. Using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher they will assist in the creation social media posts, presentations, flyers and update and maintain Kehilla’s filing system, including digitizing documents.
The Administrative Assistant will demonstrate organizational skills to carry out a variety of tasks and can meet deadlines and organize their time effectively.
Organization Description:
Kehilla Residential Programme (Kehilla) was established in 1982 as the UJA Federation’s community housing agency. Kehilla’s mandate is to identify and champion affordable housing initiatives responsive to the needs of the Jewish community in the Greater Toronto Area. This is implemented through education, awareness, project sponsorship, development consultation, and research.
Kehilla operates a Rental Assistance Program (RAP) that provides up to $400 per month to assist households to better afford their housing. Kehilla continues to build partnerships with developers to access city mandated affordable housing units and integrate low-rent and inclusive housing with RAP funding into rental and condominium developments. Kehilla works to initiate policy changes with government to allow for more affordable housing.
